Since the discovery of gravitational waves back in 2015, the Advanced LIGO-Virgo detector network has kept observing merging compact binaries, binaries of black holes or neutron stars, of novel character. In this talk we briefly review the recent detections and discuss what the current and upcoming observations might have to offer from the point of view of fundamental physics and cosmology.
